The US is one of the only developed nations in the world to allow citizens to own a gun. With recurrent news of American gun violence, many members of the international community wonder why this is the case. Why are Americans allowed to own guns and why do these citizens so fiercely protect this right? Despite increasing gun related accidents and deaths, why haven’t policy changes been enacted to control gun ownership and use? In this All About People seminar, we will discuss America’s legal institution of gun ownership and the country’s ongoing gun control debate.
